Spain gives kitesurfing two heavyweights. Fuerteventura is the one we cover in depth: its Sotavento tidal lagoon has hosted the World Cup since 1986, fills to standing depth with the tide, and carries the accelerated trades over four kilometres of sandbar — with the resort and the teaching centre on the beach itself. Tarifa, Europe's wind capital with around 300 windy days a year, is the other. EU travel, no jet lag worth mentioning.
