Kitesurfing at Gruissan happens in front of a village of stilt chalets, on the beach that hosts the world's biggest kite gathering: the Plage des Chalets and its Défi Kite. Akila's Pôle Mer works this sand, the famous chalets rent by the week 15 to 300 metres from the water — a first-row terrace is a grandstand seat on the spot — with the Hôtel de la Plage at 400 m and the Camping LVL opening onto the Ayguades kite beach. Know the rules: the lagoons (Mateille, Ayrolle, Grazel) are kite-banned. Gruissan is a SEA spot.
