Kitesurfing at Penthièvre is Brittany's two-sided miracle: the isthmus is a few hundred metres wide, Atlantic waves on one side and a flat, shallow, swell-free bay on the other — so there is a rideable side almost whatever the wind does. The Hôtel des Deux Mers and the Auberge du Petit Matelot both stand about 30 m from the sand, and three schools — Rêve de Glisse, NKS56 and Kite Spirit — pick the right side for the day. Be warned: summer wind here is the weak season, autumn is the real one.
